NATIONAL NASU PREPARES FOR MOTHER OF ALL STRUGGLE Posted by Ogundokun Doyinmola Joshua Early this morning, members of NASU, NAAT and SSANU Obafemi Awolowo University Ile - Ife branch stormed the school's library sending both students and workers out of the library. The cause of this brouhaha, as was gathered by our correspondent, who was present at the scene is as a result of a sharing formula adopted by the Federal Government in the allocation of annual allowance worth #23billion sent to universities in the country. The directive from the federal ministry of education is that ASUU members should be given 89% while NASU, NAAT and SSANU should be given 11% which was perceived by the members of the three associations as injustice. Hence, in a bid to make their voices heard they embarked on a protest to lock the school's library, the school gate and stopped their members from working until a decision is made by the National body. YORUBA MONARCH BECOMES AN EMIR Why I Adopt ‘Emir’ Title- Oluwo Oluwo of Iwoland in Osun state, Oba Adbulrasheed Akanbi has declared his resolve to adopt the Emir title popularly known with Northern traditional rulers. Speaking at the installation and turbarning ceremony of an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahquub Abdul-Baaqi Mohammed as first Waziri of Yoruba land on Saturday, Oba Akanbi said he decided to now bear “Emir of Iwoland” because he wants to emulate the attitudes of northern Emirs. According to Oluwo, Northern traditional rulers are better behaved than his counterparts from the Southwest saying Yoruba Obas are full of bickering, acrimony and enmities. He said Yoruba traditional rulers lacks cooperation and expected royal characters saying the Yoruba Obas have been polarized owing to enmities.
