NATIONAL NASU PREPARES FOR MOTHER OF ALL STRUGGLE

Posted by Ogundokun Doyinmola Joshua

Early this morning, members of NASU, NAAT and SSANU Obafemi Awolowo University Ile - Ife branch stormed the school's library sending both students and workers out of the library.

The cause of this brouhaha, as was gathered by our correspondent, who was present at the scene is as a result of a sharing formula adopted by the Federal Government in the allocation of annual allowance worth #23billion sent to universities in the country.

The directive from the federal ministry of education is that ASUU members should be given 89% while NASU, NAAT and SSANU should be given 11% which was perceived by the members of the three associations as injustice. Hence, in a bid to make their voices heard they embarked on a protest to lock the school's library, the school gate and stopped their members from working until a decision is made by the National body.

Information reaching us is that members of the three associations have also embarked on similar protest in various universities in the country especially in University of Ibadan, University of Port Harcourt just to mention a few.
