Firm Provides Platform For Women Entrepreneurs


A beverage and sausage producing company, Rite Foods Limited , last Saturday created a platform in Lagos ,where women in business , ambitious women and women who desire equality in the workplace and the society interacted and networked in a convivial atmosphere .
According to the Managing Director ,RFL , Mr Seleem Adegunwa, it is the company’s way of celebrating the International Women ’s Day , and bringing to the front burner the importance of gender parity in the workplace and empowering women in business .
He noted that women needed to be empowered because of the important role they played in the society, and the natural managerial skills they possessed . He , however , lamented that in some societies women were not appreciated or celebrated .
Given the nature of business at Rite Foods Limited , that was why the company organised an exhibition tagged ‘ Food, Drinks and Her ’ in which it empowered women with some of the products of the company.
He said , “Many societies still have a long journey to go in the appreciation of women empowerment and the impact on the society. It cannot be overemphasised that what women teach has a positive impact and where they do not teach a negative impact on the society and the country .
“As a food and beverage company, it was natural that our thoughts gravitated towards the idea of recognising , celebrating and ultimately , empowering female, food and drinks entrepreneurs, by providing a platform where they can showcase their entrepreneurial spirit, network among themselves for positive alignments for future successes and most importantly , have fun while doing it.
“Which is why , it is heart lifting for me , seeing this hall filled with a fine mix of established names and fast -rising female entrepreneurs, all set and ready to unleash. We do hope that dreams come true for you all .”
Earlier, the company had empowered a street hawker , Ibere Ugochukwu , by opening a shop for him on the Lagos Island and offered him 100 packs of the Bigi beverages ,100 cartons of Rite Sausage , refrigerator and generator free of charge .

9th Assembly: NASS Introduces Stringent Conditions For Journalists’ Accreditation

Ahead of the inauguration of ninth assembly, the National Assembly management has released 20 stringent conditions for journalists and media houses’ accreditation. In two separate letters addressed to the chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Press Corps on Monday by the Director of Information, Agada Emmanuel, the requirements were categorised under permanent and temporary accreditation. According to the letters, this new accreditation guidelines shall come into effect from June 11, 2019. The prerequisites for the coverage of the activities of the National Assembly before the expiration of the present leadership was also aimed at reducing the number of journalists covering the legislative arm.
