IS IT A WAY OF CAMPAIGNING, TO DERAIL SOMEONE'S PERSONALITY IN OTHER TO UPGRADE ANOTHER, OR AN INTELLECTUAL SHAME? -S. A. O. SAGE

I have kept myself so busy just to avoid myself in talking about this political dismay... But my muse just don't allow the tolerance, When it kept on reminding me that a man who kept silent at the time of injustice is himself unjust...  Thus, I have come to say little that is embedded with many.

Great Ife, I need not quote many thinkers in other to favor or disfavor the 2.5CGPA criterion, but the question I may ask is, what kind of leaders are we intending to breed? Imagine we have a leader whose CGPA is lower down 2.5 yet doing perfectly well in leadership and imagine also a leader whose CGPA is above 2.5 and still doing perfectly well in leadership. Great Ife, if I may ask, which one is preferable between these two imaginations? Of course, we all know which is better! Great Ife, maybe I should ask, is there nobody whose CGPA is above or equal to 2.5 and yet capable as a leader? Are they? Aren't they? We need not debate on "unnecessary" when we are not face with one option, there are many capable people!

In deed, unionism is embedded with many tasks ample enough to inundate a leader, but 2.5CGPA requirement, is used (as yardstick) before election and not after election. If before election you can't cumulate 2.5CGPA, please tell me what you would cumulate after election (when you eventually emerged)? A leader must be able to face multiple tasks or pressures without excusing one for another. If anyone is aspiring for Student Unionism, must be ready to build his or herself against challenges cum academic rightness without excusing one for the other...  (I refuse to say much on these, but those questions I have asked, suffice enough to show my concerns)...

However, Great Ife, it is also of my great concern that we don't fall into the hoaxes and the recent tactics of our aspirants... It is a new tactic of some aspirants to downplay their opponent's personality in other to get theirs upgraded. Whoever is campaigning or soliciting your support by way of condemning his or her opponent is not worthy of being a leader, such is rather an exculpatory leader; a leader who could only stand to fit by excuses and blames of others and not ready to be held responsible... Everyone should be able to clarify and distinguish his or her agenda without relegating or  dawn-framing opponent.

And I must say for the fact that we are friends is not enough to vote an aspirant, it has ruined us many a time... let's avoid ineptness trend, by just following a caucus in a bid of supporting a friend. And just because we saw so many quotes (many of which we do not see before now) from an aspirant is not a panoply of good leadership. Thus, a countenance to it is a failure of reasoning...

Great Ife, many of them are fluent and eloquent, but is that what we only need? Meet with them (aspirants) to hear them out, and care not just for their eloquency but their offerings, not just their offerings, but how pragmatic they are, and not just their pragmatism, but are they also physically and mentally capable?

If otherwise be the case i would no longer be here to feel the agony. Great Ife look before you leap.
