Reading Marathon : Nigerian attempts to break world record

Treasure Olawunmi Bayode , is attempting to set a new Guinness world record for ‘The Longest Reading Marathon (Read Aloud).’ According to tweets on his Twitter page, he plans to read for 120 hours straight with only two hours break every 24 hours. Bayode began reading at 1:30pm on Monday reading Carnivorous City by Toni Kan. The marathon is ongoing at the You Read Library, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba in Lagos. “I have always loved to read good materials right from when I was in secondary school.,” he wrote on Twitter. “I am doing this for the culture! For the reading culture. Kwasu unveils doctoral degree in advanced military studies

Kwara state university (KWASU), Malete, has unveiled doctoral degree programme in advanced military studies (IAMS) to prepare students for intellectual solution to war, crime and conflicts in African nations. Unilag seeks closer ties with Nigerian Air force

The Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos has expressed the desire of the University to have closer ties with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in the area of Research and Development (R&D). The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Development Services, Prof Folasade Ogunsola, made this known when she led a team from the University to pay a courtesy call on the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on 22 February 2018. The visiting Vice Chancellor, who used the occasion to congratulate the NAF on the recent induction of its first indigenous operational Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), stated that the visionary leadership of Air Marshal Abubakar was, without doubts, contributing meaningfully to national development. OAU signs MOU with American University

As part of activities of repositioning the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife for global relevance, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. E.O. Ogunbodede has signed an MOU with Towson University, Towson, US. TU is the second largest public university in the state of Maryland with a nationally rated Cyber Security programme, designated by the National Security Agency/Department of Homeland Security of US as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education in 2002 and in Cyber Operations in 2013. TU is one of only 19 institutions in US to receive the NSA/DHS Cyber Operations designation. The leader of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Lagos chapter, Prince Oriwaye Joseph Adefolalu was this morning arrested by security operatives from the SCID, Ikeja allegedly at the instance of the Vice – Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe. Prince Waye Adefolalu who was the Chairman of the institution’s SSANU between 2003 and 2009 has been at the forefront and has been part of the negotiation team, in the lingering conflict between the school authorities and the unions in the premier institution. Jamb extends registration for 2018 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the registration for 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UMTE), until Feb. 11. The Board disclosed this in a statement signed by its Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, on Tuesday. According to him, the extension came after the Board made a “decision albeit with great hesitation to accommodate candidates who failed to register between the two months window period.’’ He said that the decision was arrived at after the window period ended at midnight of Tuesday, February 6. “The failure of these candidates to register is unfortunate and the Board hastens to add that this culture of impunity would not be tolerated henceforth. “Indeed penalty will be imposed for late registration from next session. “UTME candidates are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the extension to register as request for ...
