As mixed reactions continue to trail the statement made by Oluwo Of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi over the title of 'Emirship', the Royal father gave more reasons for his decision.
'When anyone calls me a King it's not problem which is an English meaning of Oba you can accept that, but when someone or I call myself an Emir which is an Arabic word for King there is rants all over ! What is our peoples problem with Arabic language ? I am a king in Yorubaland willing, able and capable to lead the Yoruba race as a King/Emir/Igwe/Oba or call it Sarkin in Hausa or Fulani dialect for the unity of this country with one love. When an Igbo man sees me.
He calls me Eze or Igwe,Hausa or Fulani calls me Sarkin and Yoruba's call me Oba .I'm a king from Yorubaland but I'm also an Emir,Igwe and Oba. When will a Yoruba man be able to relocate to any part of the North as a child or young adult and then emerges as a Senator and eventually becomes a President of this country as a Northern candidate just like Barrack Obama did ? Obama is from Hawaii but cos of hardship and him been an orphan moved to Chicago as a youth and became a junior Senator later and from there a Chicago candidate to the Presidency, remember they do have a language in Hawaii ! I can call myself an Emir in Yorubaland if i choose to, because my town is the home of Islamic Scholars (ilu Alfa) or home of Islam in the whole of southwest and I inherited that as a king that was turbanned for my installation as a King. I'm a king to the English/Christian people of Nigeria, Oba to the Yoruba race,Igwe to the Igbo's, Sarkin Yorubaland to the Hausa/Fulani speaking people and Emir of Yorubaland to the Arabic/Muslim people, Konig to the Deutsche cos I'm a Father to all and I love you all, 'he said.
