JAC suspends nationwide strike, direct members to resume..

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Non-Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities have announced the suspension of its over 100 days industrial action and directed members to resume on March 15, 2018.

The Joint Action Committee comprised of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (NASU), Senior Staff Academic of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technologists, (NAAT).

The national chairman of the Joint Action Committee Samson Ugwoke, who announced the suspension on Wednesday at a press briefing, however, said that the Union “shall not hesitate to resume the strike if government reneges on the agreements reached or delays in any aspects,”

9th Assembly: NASS Introduces Stringent Conditions For Journalists’ Accreditation

Ahead of the inauguration of ninth assembly, the National Assembly management has released 20 stringent conditions for journalists and media houses’ accreditation. In two separate letters addressed to the chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Press Corps on Monday by the Director of Information, Agada Emmanuel, the requirements were categorised under permanent and temporary accreditation. According to the letters, this new accreditation guidelines shall come into effect from June 11, 2019. The prerequisites for the coverage of the activities of the National Assembly before the expiration of the present leadership was also aimed at reducing the number of journalists covering the legislative arm.
