Lecturers endorse Buhari, say Atiku part of Nigeria’s problems

Some lecturers under the aegis of Progressives in Academics have declared support for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari .
Pro -Acad , made up of professors and other members of academics in Nigerian universities , polytechnics and colleges of education, made the declaration on Wednesday at a press briefing in Abuja
The convener , Prof . Bolarinwa Bolaji , claimed that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party , Atiku Abubakar , was part of Nigeria ’s problems and could not be trusted with power again .
He recalled that Atiku , as the vice president between 1999 and 2007 and chairman of the National Privatisation Council sold national assets to his friends .
While citing a statement by Atiku to privatise the NNPC , the group warned Nigerians against those who sold national assets in the past.
“The people who put us in this mess must not be allowed to come back to power . They obviously have nothing to offer . They had been tested but had been found wanting, ” he said .
Bolaji said corruption in the PDP -led administration in Nigeria in 16 years forced multinational companies and industries to relocate from Nigeria to neighbouring countries, partly because of lack of supply of electricity .
“The effect of this relocation is unquantifiable . Millions of Nigerians working in those organisations lost their jobs .”
The group also blamed $ 2 .1 bn arms fund diverted by the office of the former National Security Adviser , Col . Sambo Dasuki ( retd .) under former President Goodluck Jonathan for the worsening case of insecurity in the country .
