Dumped newborn baby found dead in Anambra


A newborn baby was , on Thursday , found dead in Nnewi , Anambra State .
The baby, who was placed in a carton by unknown persons, was dumped by the roadside .
A resident , who spoke to PUNCH Metro on condition of anonymity because of the fear of being arrested , said , “ The incident happened this morning ( Thursday ) . We suspect that the baby died of cold because we understood he was left naked overnight .
“The discovery was a shock to many residents of the vicinity .
“The incident occurred on the Bank Road , Nnewi. We were left in shock after discovering that the baby had died . He was dumped by somebody suspected to be the mother .
“The incident left many passersby and sympathisers in tears . This is wickedness of the highest order.”
Efforts to get the police to react to the story were not successful as calls put across to the mobile telephone of the Police Public Relations Officer in the state , Haruna Mohammed , rang out .
A text message sent to him on the matter had not been replied as of the time of filing this report .

9th Assembly: NASS Introduces Stringent Conditions For Journalists’ Accreditation

Ahead of the inauguration of ninth assembly, the National Assembly management has released 20 stringent conditions for journalists and media houses’ accreditation. In two separate letters addressed to the chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Press Corps on Monday by the Director of Information, Agada Emmanuel, the requirements were categorised under permanent and temporary accreditation. According to the letters, this new accreditation guidelines shall come into effect from June 11, 2019. The prerequisites for the coverage of the activities of the National Assembly before the expiration of the present leadership was also aimed at reducing the number of journalists covering the legislative arm.
