"We are Journalists, not Activists" - ACJ OAU President.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday evening, the President of the Association of Campus Journalist, OAU in person of Olanrewaju Oyedeji stressed the need to make students understand the objectives of the association as students on campus already see them as a body which should always help them channel their grievances to the school management and fight for it.

He said " We will make decisions based on what we know is right, based on our objectives as campus journalists. We can't act according to public outcries. ACJ OAU is not management sponsored and we are not scared of addressing any issues. Sometimes ago, we accused the SU of embezzling funds and also raised some accusations against the former Vice Chancellors and we stood by it. We are not  politicians but journalists"

He also pointed out his efforts so far as to unite journalists on campus towards registering under the ACJ which by virtue of the constitution and University regulations mandated all news outfits to be registered while stating categorically that some news agencies on campus have decided not to register based on their personal ego which is not a big deal to him as he is proud of his caliber of excos who can't see any of their achievement as being new.
He also advised all other news agencies who is yet to be registered to do so on time so they will be carried along with the planned programs of the association.

While speaking on the challenges the 45 year old association is going through, he pointed out the issue of funding, the expectations of students from his administration owning to the fact that they came up at a time when the Students Union is on 'tactical suspension'.
