'Allah won't forgive you,if you don't seek for my forgiveness' OAU immam laments ....
The above statement was made by the chief immam of OAU on 23rd of September,2016. While delivering the Friday sermon (khutbah) at the university central mosque .
The statement is no doubt connected with some news that went viral about an attempt made to close down the two notable mosques in the halls of residence(AWOLOWO AND FAJUYI HALL MOSQUES) .
Based on this news that floods both the print and electronic platform, some notable Alumni across the world wade in, to verify the authenticity of the news,it was said by the immam that some of this alumni called him unprintable names without even seeking for the "truth" from the accused.
Among the "heavy weights" that waded into the matter is the University Chancellor, who is the Emir of Bida. The chief immam said The chancellor craves for his appearance at the palace because of this issue, the immam also acknowledged the presence of some muslim alumni who also left their states of residence in a bid to hear the side of the immam on the 'attempt closure' story.
The Immam however warns students who are at the forefront of spreading what he tagged as "falsehood" to seek forgiveness from him,so that Allah can forgive them. He finally lectures the students on the classification of forgiveness in Islam,he said the first one is to seek it from Allah, and the second forgiveness is to be sought from the community one offended, and the last classification is to be sought from the person one offends,he said the tree classifications are interwoven, that any offender who want Allah to forgive him or her should channel it to the tree, for the sin to be forgiven by Allah.
