If I were asked "How can you describe a mature person?" I would respond by saying "A mature person is someone who constantly act as an Adult. A person who is grown fully enough to differentiate between right and wrong. A person who controls his or her emotions. A mature person is someone who is diligent in all his doings. According to Aristotle "we are what we repeatedly do"
Characteristics of Maturity
👉Accept to learn from your mistakes and from the mistakes of others.
👉Be able to differentiate between rational decision making and emotional impulses.
👉Be able to overlook situations even when it is difficult to do so.
👉Affect other people's life positively and limit selfishness.
👉Handle pressure with self composure.
👉Accept nonsense and try to see some sense in it.
👉Listen and evaluate the points of others.
👉Have the spirit of tolerance.
A person is mature when he or she is able to have a healthy level of maturity. When spiritual maturity will be reflected in the relationship with God and our emotional maturity will be reflected in our relationship with man. According to Mark 12:31, Jesus said "Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” The level of our maturity before God determine the level of our maturity before Man.
Spiritual maturity and emotional maturity are inter-dependent. We strike the balance between spiritual and emotional maturity because God commandeth his love towards us by giving us his only begotten Son to die for our sins (Rom 5:8) and we should give our best and not the less to our neighbour and loved ones.
Emotional maturity means having a healthy self concept, not thinking too highly or too lowly of oneself. Spiritual and emotional maturity is a situation when we have a quality and standard relationship with God and people that surround us.
