Former Pope, Benedict XVI celebrates birthday with a mug of beer

Former Pope , Benedict XVI , who resigned as pontiff in 2013 , in company with friends from his native Bavaria in Germany , celebrated his 90 th birthday with a mug of beer .
According to Chicago Tribune , Photos by the Vatican newspaper , L ’ Osservatore Romano , of the celebration showed Benedict sipping a beer .
His brother, Monsignor Georg Ratzinger , also joined the party and enjoyed a beer .

Looking happy , the frail Benedict also admired a gift basket whose goodies included pretzels.
He was born on April 16 , 1927 , in southern Germany . But since the birthday coincided this year with Easter Sunday , Benedict was feted on Monday .

9th Assembly: NASS Introduces Stringent Conditions For Journalists’ Accreditation

Ahead of the inauguration of ninth assembly, the National Assembly management has released 20 stringent conditions for journalists and media houses’ accreditation. In two separate letters addressed to the chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Press Corps on Monday by the Director of Information, Agada Emmanuel, the requirements were categorised under permanent and temporary accreditation. According to the letters, this new accreditation guidelines shall come into effect from June 11, 2019. The prerequisites for the coverage of the activities of the National Assembly before the expiration of the present leadership was also aimed at reducing the number of journalists covering the legislative arm.
