EID UL FITR : Democracy is a sham says OAU chief  Imam

By Olaiya Lateef K

As the Muslims across the globe celebrated this year EID UL FITR, The Muslims on OAU campus were not left out in the celebration as they all converged at praying ground to observe the supererogatory prayer, as instructed by the prophet.

The professor of medicine who is also the Chief Imaam of the Muslim Community of Great Ife (Prof. A. A Sanusi), led the two Rak'ahs prayer, after which sermon on the state of the nation was dispassionately discussed.

The Veteran Imam started the sermon by attributing the myriad of problems facing us as a nation today to the ineptitude of our leaders. The cleric stressed further by saying, Democracy is believed to be government of the people, for the people and by the People. whereas reverse in the case with system of governance in Nigeria. This was said to be a sham.

The religious leader drew the attention of the congregates to what's being played out in government parastatals ranging from the glaring corruption in the judicial system and other arms of government, as he bluntly said none of the government agencies are working, and he said there is no sign that it will work, because the system itself is demonic or satanic.

The cleric however suggested two solutions to the problems, and the solutions were taken from the sayings of the prophet which says " I'm with my servant who reposes his faith in me, and calls upon me"  The Imaam however said that, if we can be hoping for good thing with our solid faith in Allah, things will start working as it should. That is, the solutions proffered centered on hope in Allah, and faith in him. The Imam also urged the congregates not to limit their charitable deeds to Ramadan alone, as such righteous deeds can also be done in other months.y
