OAU SU: B&F Committee Calls For The Submission of Budgets

In accordance with the sacrosanct constitution of the Great Ife Students' Union, Article III Sec 44(3) which states that the committee shall at the beginning of every parliamentary year receive or call for and deliberate on the budget of the Central Executive Council,  Hall Executive Councils and other union committees and commissions and submit a report thereon to the SRC.

In the light of this, the Budgetary and Finance committee, Students Representative Council, hereby calls for the attention of all officers of the union (CEC, HEC, SRC leadership), all standing committees and commissions of the union (Select committee, Transport and management commission, Judicial Council) to the submission of their budgets for 2016/2017 parliamentary session.

Constitutionally,  the Budgetary and Finance Committee also mandates all the Financial Secretaries of the CEC and HEC, the General Secretaries of all committees, the Registrar of the Judicial Council and the Clerk of the Students' Representative  Council to collect and compile all budgets of all offices of their respective Councils and committees and should be forwarded to the office of the General Secretary, Budgetary and Finance Committee on or before 4:00pm Wednesday, 7th June, 2017.

All officers are advised to adhere to the time and date as failure to do so would attract penalties.

The President and Financial Secretary,  Students' Union and all Chairpersons and Financial secretaries of all undergraduate Halls of residence are advised to ensure that the Corporate bank accounts of the union and their respective halls have been fully opened and in operation before the above specified date as this is a major criterion to be met for the reviewing of their budgets. Therefore, the failure to meet with this condition indicates taking full responsibilities for the consequences of your actions and as such authorized by the committee not to make any expenditure whatsoever by such officer(s).

The committee hereby consider it important to appeal to the generality of Great Ife Students to give in their full and maximum supports for the guidelines laid by the committee to ensure a clean, transparent and efficient administration. If these modalities set in place by the committee are strictly adhered to by the union officers,  the high level of accountability,  transparency and efficiency would be guaranteed.

9th Assembly: NASS Introduces Stringent Conditions For Journalists’ Accreditation

Ahead of the inauguration of ninth assembly, the National Assembly management has released 20 stringent conditions for journalists and media houses’ accreditation. In two separate letters addressed to the chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Press Corps on Monday by the Director of Information, Agada Emmanuel, the requirements were categorised under permanent and temporary accreditation. According to the letters, this new accreditation guidelines shall come into effect from June 11, 2019. The prerequisites for the coverage of the activities of the National Assembly before the expiration of the present leadership was also aimed at reducing the number of journalists covering the legislative arm. Sri Lanka: Buddhist leader stokes anti-Muslim tension A manhunt is on in Sri Lanka for a hard-line Buddhist leader after a series of attacks on mosques and Muslim-owned businesses that authorities accuse him of encouraging.
